Wedding Day

Did you get enough rest before the big day?  Did you enjoy the wedding day?  Was your excitement related to the decorations, food, and dress or the anticipation of the union that leads to a lifelong companionship?  Did you break the bank for this one day?  Did you have unattainable expectations?  How integral was prayer for the days leading up?

Well, the wedding is finished; the wedding day has concluded; the festivities have ended.  Now, the marriage begins!  Oh wait!  There are those gifts to be opened.  There is the clean up, perhaps.  There is the family to see and spend time with.  Before all that, how about just the two of you taking a walk, without phones, without an entourage, without a photographer.  Then a delicious meal, nothing fancy.

Now, you have learned what elevates your partner and what triggers your partner.  How is the communication within the first year?  What needs to be corrected immediately to avoid pitfalls?  For your partner, what does intimacy mean?  How many instances did you not feel like being on the same team?  How were those addressed?  What does your home look like in the next few years?  How is your relationship with GOD?

By this point, certain routines have become familiar, while new habits have been adopted and integrated into daily life. These practices, whether long-standing or recently formed, now shape the rhythm of everyday existence, reflecting both consistency and growth.  The excitement should continue, and the expectations must align with reality.  The cries of the children, the sleepless nights, the stress related to work, other variables are all adding to the excitement, or perhaps subtracting from.  How is the husband-wife team?
